Holloway Suspect Denies Responsibility

Sun Sep 25, 8:18 PM ET

NEW YORK - A suspect in the case of an Alabama teenager missing in Aruba admits he lied about the last time he saw her on the night she vanished, but he insists she was fine, according to a television interview.

Joran van der Sloot, 18, was one of three men jailed this summer in Natalee Holloway's May 30 disappearance. He talked to a producer for "A Current Affair" in Holland, where he is attending college. The interview is scheduled to air Monday.

Holloway was last seen leaving a bar with van der Sloot and two brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe. The three young men were released on the condition they remain available to police for questioning.

Van der Sloot and the brothers initially told police they dropped Holloway off alone at her hotel but later admitted van der Sloot was dropped off with the teen.

"We agreed to lie," van der Sloot said, according to a transcript of the show.

He insists the night ended when he left her alone on the beach.

"She wanted to stay here the whole night. I told her no I had to go. I even lifted her up to carry her back to the hotel, and she told me to put her down," he said in the interview.

Extensive searches have failed to find any trace of Holloway, who vanished on the final night of a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island.

Van der Sloot said he had been drinking with Holloway when they left with the Kalpoe brothers.

"Obviously she was drunk. I had stuff to drink, too," van der Sloot said. "She wanted to go with me. I wanted to go with her. It was totally consensual."

Earth to Joran, if someone is that drunk it can’t be consensual. Remember the part about going in and out of consciousness? Please tell me that someone during this “Current Affair” interview is going to say the following: Joran, you have lied through your teeth about everything, including the night that you left Natalee Holloway off at the Holiday Inn. You had concocted the lie with the Kalpoe brothers and most likely Paulus Van der Sloot as well. WHY ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING NOW? Also, you and the Kalpoe brothers have now admitted to all having sex with a girl that was drunk and that you claim to have been consensual, WHERE IS SHE THEN? You left a drunk girl on the beach after all you had conveniently enough consensual sex with a girl that was so drunk she probably could not have consented to anything. Joran, any other lies you would like to tell the world?

People get drunk and leave bars together and have sex all the time all over the world. If they both wanted to be together then it is consensual. Sometimes one or both of them pass out or go to sleep. If they aren't passed out in the beginning or during, it is consensual. People all over the country would be charged with rape if some of the logic applied by some were true.

That may be true, but they believe that Natalee was drugged, and that means that should could not give consent. There has been many cases at this same bar where the bartender has put drugs in a girls drink if they are paid enough($25). There has been many times that girls have wanted something done about it, but they have never been in trouble for it once!

I would like to add; What solid proof is there that Joran left her on the beach? NONE. He said he did after lying. Why should it be believed that he left her on the beach?

i can't believe the judicial system in aruba if they admitted to having sex with her ; then that is gang rape. it is a crime i guess not in aruba??what goes around comes around sooner or later they will get in trouble. it is unfortunate for beth holloway-twitty she has to wait until they get caought or slip up.
